AC Installation
Right-sized cooling — even for homes that never had it.
Cooling is a sizing game: an oversized AC cools fast but never dehumidifies, leaving the house cold and clammy. Our technicians run the cooling load calculation before we quote, and we specialize in adding air conditioning to the Twin Cities’ older housing stock — including homes with radiators and no ducts at all.
When new AC makes sense
- Your system is 15+ years old or runs phased-out R-22 refrigerant
- The house is cold but clammy — classic oversizing
- You have radiator heat and no ductwork, and window units are losing the war
- You’re replacing the furnace anyway — pairing saves labor and gets matched equipment
- Cooling bills that keep climbing despite maintenance
How we handle ac installation
Engineered cooling load calculation
Windows, orientation, insulation, and internal gains — calculated, so the system dehumidifies properly instead of just blasting cold.
First-time central air for older homes
High-velocity small-duct systems bring real cooling to 1920s St. Paul and Minneapolis homes without wrecking the plaster.
Cold-climate heat pumps
Modern heat pumps cool in July and cut heating costs in the shoulder seasons — we pair them with your furnace for dual-fuel savings.
Complete, inspected installation
Pad, lineset, electrical, condensate, permit, and city inspection — plus a commissioning report showing the system performs to spec.
Your quote, upfront
Fixed, itemized quotes from the load calculation — including electrical and permit, so the number doesn’t grow.

Can you add central air to a house with radiators and no ducts?
Yes — this is one of our specialties. High-velocity small-duct systems snake through existing walls without tearing out plaster. It is calculated and quoted in writing before we start.
What size AC do I need?
It must come from a cooling load calculation. Oversizing is the classic Twin Cities mistake: the system short-cycles, never wrings the humidity out, and the house feels cold and damp at once. We size it to the house, not the square footage.
Heat pump or traditional AC?
A cold-climate heat pump costs more upfront but also heats — cutting gas usage in spring and fall — and current rebates often narrow the gap substantially. We quote both with the actual payback math so you can choose on numbers.
