Furnace Repair

When the heat quits in January, minutes matter.

Calculated, not guessedReal heat-loss calculation on every installUpfront, itemized pricingLicensed & insured

A dead furnace in a Minnesota winter is not a wait-and-see problem. Our licensed technicians diagnose fast, quote upfront before any work begins, and fix the underlying cause instead of replacing parts until the symptom goes away.

Signs your furnace needs repair

  • Blowing cold or lukewarm air, or the house never reaches the set temperature
  • Short-cycling — turning on and off every few minutes
  • Rattling, banging, screeching, or a boom on startup
  • Yellow or flickering burner flame instead of steady blue
  • Heating bills climbing with no change in usage
  • Furnace runs constantly without shutting off

How we handle furnace repair

Same-week diagnosis

A licensed tech pinpoints the fault — ignitor, flame sensor, blower motor, control board — and explains it in plain English with photos.

Upfront, itemized quotes

You approve the exact repair price before we touch a wrench. No hourly meter running, no surprise add-ons.

All makes and models

Lennox, Carrier, Trane, Bryant, Goodman, Rheem and more — gas furnaces and dual-fuel systems.

Honest repair-or-replace advice

If a repair is throwing good money after bad, we show you the math on paper — not a sales pitch.

Repair or replace? The honest math

  • Under 10 years old with a first major failure → almost always repair.
  • Over 15 years old with a cracked heat exchanger or failed blower → replacement usually wins on total cost.
  • The 50% rule: if the repair costs more than half of a new system and the furnace is past 12 years, put the money toward replacement.
  • Rising bills + uneven rooms are often a sizing problem, not an age problem — our load calculation tells you before you spend either way.

Frequently Asked Questions

My furnace stopped working — what should I check before calling?

Three quick checks: thermostat batteries and mode (Heat, and set above room temp), the furnace switch (looks like a light switch near the unit — make sure it wasn’t bumped off), and the filter (a fully clogged filter can shut a furnace down on overheat). If none of those fix it, shut it off and call us.

Do you repair furnaces the same day?

During heating season we prioritize no-heat calls and get to most within the day — call rather than book online for a dead furnace. For non-urgent repairs, book a visit online and we’ll confirm your window.

Why does my furnace turn on and off every few minutes?

Short-cycling is very common in the Twin Cities — a furnace that was oversized for the house on day one. We fix the immediate cause, and if it’s a sizing problem we can prove it with a load calculation.

Is a cracked heat exchanger worth repairing?

Almost never — a cracked heat exchanger can leak carbon monoxide and the replacement part often costs a large fraction of a new furnace. We’ll verify the crack (with a camera, shown to you), shut the unit down safely, and walk you through replacement options.
